we planned to get up early. And we did. At six in the morning, the alarm went off. So, pack everything and get on the donkey.

In the morning it was a bit colder than expected, so I could use another jacket. But then you just have to suffer...

The ride from Astorga is very beautiful and it slowly goes uphill. Today the destination is at 1500 m above sea level, the so-called ferro del cruz. There the sins are written on a stone and deposited. Instead of sins, we write the names of our loved ones. The place is quite special. Also a bit touristy. A car comes and many people visit this place every minute. There is also a film crew on site...

It goes down another 100 meters and up 130 meters. Then the last and highest point is conquered. Then it goes very steeply downhill. A whole 30 km long and 1000 meters downhill. What a descent.

Arriving in Ponferrada, we check into the albergue we booked. Air-conditioned, the bikes are stored with the elevator... what unnecessary luxury.

Shower, have something cool to drink, and then off to the city for sightseeing.
