Lazy day in 1770 ...

The weather was beautiful again today, but it was very windy. That's why the tour to the Great Barrier Reef didn't take place, and I had the whole day to explore the surroundings of Agnes Water and 1770. Although the place gave itself the name 1770 with reference to James Cook's arrival in Australia, the official spelling is Seventeen Seventy. Just to avoid any confusion with postal codes or house numbers.

1770 is actually the southernmost point of the Great Barrier Reef, and because the waves come unhindered to the coast without the reef, Agnes Water is the northernmost surfer hotspot. You could feel that immediately in the morning when you came to the beach.

And the first surf school was visible on the beach.

Of course, under the watchful eyes of the lifeguards ...

I always find it pleasant that in Australia almost no beach, no lookout, no other attraction is really crowded.

This is what a typical parking lot looks like most of the time.

And this is how it looks at the places where the parking lots are, like here at Chinaman Beach.

In the next bay, a swimmer actually got lost in the photo ... but it's hard to see in the waves ...

And this is the bay where our mate James Cook landed on Australian land for the second time in 1770. The marina of 1770 is now on the left side.

And today I also discovered a tree that I initially thought was a pineapple tree, even though pineapples don't grow on trees ... But upon closer inspection, it looked more like a banana, but I have no idea what kind of tree it is ...

That's how a very quiet day ended.

By the way .... in my apartment, which is quite new and equipped with an almost complete kitchen (including a dishwasher ...), there is also a washing machine with dryer in the bathroom ... I could have saved the 8 AUD two days ago ... Pay attention when reading the hotel facilities ...

Tomorrow we will travel further 250 kilometers to the south, to Hervey Beach. From there, the two-day tour to Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world, will start a day later. I'm also looking forward to that.
