The next morning, we wake up early again to take the grand tour of the temples of Angkor. The temples are incredibly beautiful and mega impressive. It is simply unimaginable how the people back then (800-1300 AD) could stack and shape the stones on top of each other with their bare hands and with the help of elephants.
The people wanted to realize the Hindu world view with the temples and portray the seat of the gods. That's why they built the towers as high as possible, which means that we are already exhausted under the blazing sun (I also believe that they just wanted to show off). But we don't let that spoil our day and climb to the top of every temple! We are always brought from temple to temple by tuk-tuk, which is always a nice refreshment in between.
In the evening, we want to watch the sunset from another temple, but after waiting for two hours (so that we have a nice view), we are told that there is no sunset today because it is too cloudy. Great. It's not like we wished for clouds all day long, which then appear at the wrong time.
But it's still a very successful day and now we're heading home and to bed, because tomorrow we have to get up early again!
