Bye Bye New Zealand

When I woke up on Saturday, I got myself breakfast and packed the remaining things. At 11, Chris texted me that I could come to him, which was a bit sudden as I had expected it in the afternoon. When I was with him, we walked to the mall around the corner where we met Jake at work. We chatted for a bit and then went back around half past one to drop off the car. I put all my stuff in Chris' house and we drove to the depot, where I parked the car and handed over the keys. The car will stay there until Dad picks it up. After that, we drove with Chris' car to a friend's party. It was more of a small garden party, we talked a bit, ate something and then drove back to the flat at six o'clock. On the way, Chris received a call from his parents, so he kicked me out of the flat and drove to the badminton hall. I sat in the flat and arranged a meeting with Jake. When Chris came back at 9:20, we drove to a bar to have a beer and talk. Afterwards, the two of them took me to the airport and we said goodbye to each other.

The hostel at the airport was pretty modern, there were no normal beds but sleeping cabins that you could pull closed.

At 3:30 a.m., my alarm went off and I quietly left the room and walked to the airport, which was only a five-minute walk away. There I checked in and took off on time at 6 a.m.

Arriving in Auckland, I had some trouble finding my way, but the friendly airport staff helped me. At the international airport, after some stress, I realized that my flight was delayed by 10 hours. Naturally, my mood plummeted as a result, as all my plans for the first two days in Rarotonga were ruined. I then decided to go to the city to go to the library, as I saw no point in waiting at the airport for 10 hours.

At 5 p.m., I returned to the airport to find out that the flight had been further delayed by 45 minutes. So I made myself more comfortable by watching movies and eventually went to boarding. The flight was supposed to take off as scheduled at 8:45. In the end, it became 20:20.

At 1:40 a.m. local time, I landed in Rarotonga. I didn't know how to get to the hostel, as the bus doesn't run at that time, but fortunately someone was waiting for me to take me to the hostel. I had sent an email from the library saying that I would be late, but I didn't receive a reply to that.

At around 2:20, I simply fell into bed and slept.
