I was especially looking forward to Cairns, as I treated myself to an apartment there. On the first evening, two friends came over to cook together. And of course, what had to happen, happened - we set off the fire alarm and the entire motel was evacuated :D We had to wait until a firefighter came and checked the situation. He was really cool about it, so it didn't have any repercussions. Nevertheless, the whole situation was very embarrassing for us and a super funny start in Cairns. Another reason why I was looking forward to Cairns was because I met many people from the East Coast there, and we spent many evenings together at Gilligans. First, I explored the Botanic Gardens, which I really liked. There was an orchid and a butterfly exhibition and two lakes. And it was really big!
On another day, we went to Cape Tribulation. At the beginning, we were baptized with Aboriginal art. With fire and paintings. We visited different lookouts and swimming spots.
We had lunch right on the beach, which was very nice!
The next day, I went on a tour called Waterfall Wanders, which showed the most beautiful waterfalls. My favorite were the Milla Milla Falls, which you surely all know from the Herbal Essences commercials ;)
And of course, I did the famous hair flick!
It was a really nice day, also because I had a lovely and really crazy guide who made the bus rides between the stops an experience as well.
I also went to Palm Cove, a small place in front of Cairns right on the beach. I really enjoyed that, the last time at the beach with sun and in a bikini, because now it's getting cold!
The planned flight over the Great Barrier Reef unfortunately got canceled due to the weather :( :( My tip for everyone who books it is to plan a day as a buffer so that you can postpone it!
I'm looking forward to the Outback now! :)
