Day 20: Tuesday 21.08.2018 Strandhill-Portnoo

ที่ตีพิมพ์: 22.08.2018

This morning we got up around 8:30 am. Since we wanted to do laundry today (the house where the washing machines and dryers are located opens at 9:00 am), we quickly got ready and went to the laundry. There were still machines available and other campers were not waiting to do their laundry (as we had expected). While the washing machine and dryer were running, we had a leisurely breakfast. We left the campsite around 12:00 pm and continued driving. There was a pitch and putt course in the next town. Here, even non-golfers can try playing golf on a smaller scale. There are also holes up to 71 meters long! It was really fun and took some time. Of course, J won. After that, we continued on our way to the Sleave League Cliffs. The highest cliffs in Ireland and Europe. However, when we arrived, the weather was very bad and the guidebook said that the path to the cliffs should only be taken in good weather and with little wind. Since we wouldn't have seen anything anyway, as everything was covered in clouds and we value our lives, we continued a bit disappointed towards the national park. We stopped in Portnoo and decided to spend the night at the beach there. There were public toilets. Plus, it was raining and there was a pub nearby. When we got out, we started a conversation with some Northern Irish people who were standing in their car and looking at the sea. After we had everything set up for the night and it was still raining, we went to a pub to get some food and toast to J's successful bachelor thesis. Suddenly, at around 9:30 pm, everyone in the pub took out their instruments and started playing. It seemed like they were all playing the same song without coordinating and everyone got to sing, dance or tell stories on their own. It was very nice and then we went to bed.
