It should have been that we skip Ponte de Lima and stay one more day in Rubieus - Sophie's cold has developed into a proper cold and we wouldn't have been able to walk today with that in tow.
So the unplanned break came at just the right time 😀
Since September 1st, this is the first day that we have only moved within a radius of 20m, i.e. from the house to the garden and back 😀
After 150 km on our legs, a day without walking was also quite good and we spent the day in the shade on the garden loungers by the pool.
Heidi, the hostel owner, also told us how she came to Casa here.
She gave up her teaching career (what else 😀 I probably always come across people who are connected to school/kindergarten etc.; what is the path trying to tell me?) and retired, now she runs the pilgrim's hostel here in Portugal.
During the day, it was very quiet here, in the early afternoon the first pilgrims arrived - there are familiar faces again. That's how it is here, people come and go. This morning I had a nice breakfast conversation with a man from Bonn who told me that he was in Dresden and the Spreewald a few weeks ago and is gradually discovering the east. The world is indeed small.
The two Austrians, who also said goodbye this morning, found our idea of doing this journey for my special round birthday as a mother and daughters quite charming 😀
The woman immediately considered doing it for herself and her daughter / however for her 40th birthday. Well that's a while ago.
My special day is approaching now and tomorrow Anne and Stefan will join us in Valenca. We are looking forward to the two of them and the three days together 👭👫
But before we meet - we want to conquer the last Portuguese Camino kilometers tomorrow.
So, Sophie is closing her eyes now and hopefully sleeping herself healthy.
boa noite
P.S. Pictures are a bit scarce today
