From Ica to Nazca

Нашр шудааст: 19.06.2017

The solitude of the landscape between Ica and Nazca was fascinating. In this area, it rarely rains and there is no garúa fog to provide moisture. However, on the way, we passed through the valley of the Río Grande, which is a center for cultivating mandarins and oranges. Upon arriving in Nazca, the Nazca Lines of the Pampa Colorada awaited us. Since I didn't want to take a flight over the lines, I could only see two of the lines from the Mirador, but even that was impressive. The famous geoglyphs cover an area of 350 square kilometers.
In the afternoon, we took a buggy ride to the nearby Cahuáchi ruins. This is the largest ceremonial center in the world made of adobe bricks, built by the indigenous Nazca culture. The name 'The City of the Seers' reveals that many shamans lived and were trained here. This ruin also served as a huge water reservoir for the people. During this excursion, I also experienced the first breakdown since I started traveling here. We barely made it to the ruins. Fortunately, the buggy worked well enough on the return journey to drive slowly towards the hostel. We arrived at the bus just in time, which will take us to Arequipa in the next ten hours - overnight. This was the longest distance to cover on this trip.
