For the second time, our first glance out of the window in the morning fell on rain. Unfortunately, it would accompany us all day.
But first, we set the breakfast table with fresh rolls, jam, salami and orange juice. After this varied meal and several trips to the toilet cabin, we packed our backpacks and set off to the train station in drizzling rain.
Once there, we treated ourselves to a hot chocolate before the train to Linköping departed.
At the train station in Linköping, we spent the lunchtime waiting for the regional train to Stockholm with sandwiches and reading. The mentioned train was, typically for Friday afternoon, completely overcrowded, and so we ended up on folding seats in front of the toilet.
But that wasn't actually so bad, because we happened to have a very nice and communicative seat neighbor - a student in Linköping, raised in Finland and with Thai roots. We had interesting conversations about the peculiarities of Germany, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden, and learned a lot of interesting things. For example, we found out that Finland has good sausages and that studying in Sweden can definitely be worthwhile. In return, we explained why the city of 'Uppsala' has a funny name and why Germans are good at playing football.
A funny similarity between Sweden and Germany seems to be that DB and SJ (the Swedish counterpart) take punctuality equally seriously. 😅
With a twenty-minute delay, we said goodbye to our travel acquaintance in Stockholm. At the tourist information, we got tickets for public transportation and a Stockholm City Pass (more about that tomorrow) before heading to our accommodation on Lidingö Island. The room is a bit smaller again this time, but absolutely sufficient. We get breakfast and can use the well-equipped kitchen and a TV with Netflix (as if there would be time for that).
After planning for tomorrow, we got two frozen pizzas from the nearby supermarket for dinner. Today we won't go to bed so late, because Stockholm is calling and we want to immerse ourselves in the hustle and bustle as early as possible!
P.S.: Fewer photos today, as it was mainly a train journey. Unfortunately, we forgot to take a picture of the wall in the regional train to Stockholm that entertained us so wonderfully for two hours. 😂
