Hello,
as soon as our Camilla was drivable again, we continued towards Mui Ne, a beach town with many hotels, restaurants, and small shops. Around 3pm we checked into our room and immediately went out in search of lunch. We found a place right across the street. Julia had fried rice and Matthias had fried rice with beef. After a satisfying meal, we walked along the main street until we came to a nearly dry riverbed. We quickly packed our shoes in our bags and started hiking through the river. The water was pleasantly cool and the ground was made of very fine red sand. When we reached huge sand dunes that resembled a canyon on both sides, we had to pay an entrance fee. However, the dunes were very spectacular and we occasionally saw sand towers several meters high. The river ended at a small waterfall. On the way back, we decided to climb one of the sand dunes and watch the amazing sunset from there. We planned a longer motorbike route of about 160 km for the next day. So we set off early in the morning. We started along the windy coast until we reached huge white sand dunes. With this view, we had a strong Vietnamese iced coffee (which is delicious here) before continuing further inland. Our route took us through beautiful landscapes and over a very high mountain with a hydroelectric power plant. In the afternoon, we stopped at two waterfalls before tackling the last stretch to Da Lat. We passed coffee plantations and went up to another high-altitude area, where it got pretty cold in the late afternoon on the motorbike. Feeling quite frozen, we reached our hotel at dusk, where a hot shower thawed our bones. Today we slept in a bit. When Matthias wanted to get back into bed this morning, the bed collapsed :) He quickly grabbed the tools from the motorbike and together we repaired the bed. After that, we had a great breakfast in town. From there, we went to a beautiful church and the well-designed Flower Garden. We then visited the Linh Phuoc Pagoda, which was on the way to Tiger Waterfall. On the way back, Julia mastered her first attempts at driving Camilla really well, and after we arrived in town, we continued to the Elephant Waterfall after a driver change. We quickly covered the way down to the waterfall with the toboggan slide, but then we had to face a steep climb. Back in town, we replenished ourselves with a good meal, after which Matthias visited a hairdresser in a backyard. Communication was difficult at first, but Google Translate came to the rescue. Julia had a short shopping spree and bought some nice shoes. We have planned another long stage for tomorrow, with the destination being the coast again and hopefully a warmer climate.
See you later,
Malia
