After I was lucky enough to have a decent swell on Monday and Tuesday and we were able to catch a few waves, unfortunately there was nothing to score on Wednesday.
The wind was onshore, the swell almost non-existent, and my surf buddy Kim had a doctor's appointment that lasted the whole afternoon. So what to do now?
Since the weather was really nice, I wanted to take advantage of the day and explore the surrounding area.
Kim lives near the Barwon River. The view from his apartment is fantastic, with a direct view of the promenade along the river. It's perfect for throwing a balcony party in the summer. Unfortunately, it's already autumn in Australia in April and it gets really cool in the evenings.
Since all I've been doing for the past few weeks is surfing and some yoga, I thought I could do an intensive yoga session on the large sun terrace and then go for a run.
The landscaped park around the Barwon River is not only great for a longer running session, but also many walkers enjoy the beautiful grounds and the tranquility of the park.
Before I started my run, Kim sarcastically said to me: 'Beware of the poisonous snakes'. At first I was amused, but then I quickly realized that away from the designated path, you might come across a snake or two.
Fortunately, I didn't encounter any snakes.
In addition to many different birds that I had never seen before, I was able to do additional training at covered seating areas.
In addition to enjoying the river or sunbathing on the shore, the Barwon River Promenade also offers the opportunity to venture further into a reserve and admire the Australian fauna.
This was just a brief glimpse of the long park along the Barwon River. I didn't do much more on that day, just enjoyed the tranquility. I relaxed my body and packed everything for the next day. Because it's time to go at 6 o'clock at the latest. Namaste.
