Khao Sok National Park

7:30 am Departure by bus to Khao Sok National Park. First with a minibus to Phuket City and then transfer to an old and slightly dirty long-distance US bus. I don't need to mention that something like this wouldn't be allowed to drive in Germany anymore. We were supposed to arrive at the national park at 1 pm, but well, at 12 pm we took a 50-minute lunch break, Thailand and punctuality. Well, we reached our destination at 2 pm and checked into the Green Valley Resort. Then we looked at the tour offers and decided on a night walk and a day trip to Ratchaprapha Lake. We found and booked directly at the hotel. Lunch or late lunch was at 3 pm, pizza and curry, and I have to say, the Thai pizza is something. At 7 pm, we started a 2.5-hour night walk, where we saw a monkey, snakes, spiders, a type of chameleon, and leeches. It was worth it, just to experience the sounds of the jungle at night. We had a Coke Light at the hotel and then it was time for bed. The rooms and bathrooms are simple but clean, there is air conditioning, and overall it's pretty quiet, unless the animals outside go crazy. The next morning (October 29, 2019), we had banana porridge for breakfast, which is a dream for me, no eggs, no rice with chicken, but one of my favorite meals. At 8 am, we were picked up by the shuttle bus, and we picked up 6 more people, four Germans and two Dutch. We took the bus to the boat dock and then took a longtail boat across this huge reservoir to our lunch spot. This spot is located somewhere on the lake and is built on floating tree trunks. For lunch, we had fried fish, curries, rice, and fruit. Then we went on a short hike, up and down a waterfall, where the cheap shoes we bought for a total of 4.50 euros the night before could show what they can do. Conclusion, they held up well, while everyone else was slipping, we weren't, and after all, everyone's shoes were wet because we had to walk through streams, so it was a worthwhile purchase. When we arrived back at the floating huts, it started to rain heavily, and now no one wanted to swim anymore. Unfortunately, we didn't really want to swim before, no matter how picturesque the scenery would have been, but seeing many dead fish on the surface of the lake took away our desire, and I have to admit, I was also afraid of bacteria, etc. in the water. So at 4 pm, after the rain, we took the boat back for an hour and then another hour by bus. Despite the dead fish, it was a really great trip, we saw a lot and made plans to continue our journey to Krabi with two Germans, Lena and Toni. Back at the hotel, we showered, put on long pants because of the mosquitoes, and went to Pawn's for curry. There we coincidentally met Lena and Tobi.
