From Sospel, we drove just outside of Antibes to a small campsite, complete with a pool. From here, we took the train to Cannes. A 15-minute ride with no stress of finding parking. Once in Cannes, we walked straight to the famous stairs of the film festival. Taking the obligatory picture is a must. Other than that, there is no shortage of fancy boutiques and top-class restaurants. The beach, on the other hand, was beautiful. Big waves encouraged Chris to jump in. A lovely city right by the sea.
On June 21st, the beginning of summer, there was a music festival in all the cities. Probably the first big party since the pandemic. Streets were full, and the market square was packed. Chris loved it so much that we spent time here until 9:30 in the evening. The next morning, after a swim in the pool, we continued towards St. Maxime. We made a short stop in Saint Aygulf. The bathing was wonderful here. Great water. Since the campsite was too expensive for one night, we opted for a parking spot. Our Theo provided shade for us. The next morning, we headed to St. Maxime, where we spontaneously had breakfast on the promenade. Croissant and café, as one should.
From the campsite, we cycled downhill to Saint Maxime, where we took a boat to St. Tropez. Boating is a welcome change in the heat. Once there, there were many tourists again. We walked past the expensive yachts, where the beautiful and rich liked to show off. We strolled through the streets and ate our packed food in the small park. Going out to eat in France is not affordable for our budget. We rarely find something that we are willing to spend money on ;) However, you quickly get used to the prices, and sometimes you treat yourself to a beer for €4.30 (0.3l). At the harbor, there were many artists displaying their paintings. Some great pictures were there. Chris got a duplicate because they only cost a fraction of the originals. Unfortunately, swimming was not possible here, so we returned after 2-3 hours. We then went to the sandy beach in St. Maxime.
The temperatures have been between 28-33 degrees for weeks.
