Hello everyone,
I'm sitting in Braga right now and I'm annoyed by people who, just for fun, put a Starbucks on Google Maps where there isn't actually one. Well, long story short - I found another café and will be writing my reports to you here for the next 3/4 hours. Unfortunately, it's been quite difficult to keep this up to date lately because I usually either had no electricity at the campsite or no suitable WiFi. I tried it, but the fact that this is the second time I've written this post probably tells you a lot about how it worked.
So first of all, probably the sportiest pictures from recent times. Unfortunately, I have to realize that I'm already almost 2 weeks behind - oh dear. So right after I dropped Sophia off in Lisbon and spent a night in the mountains, I went back to the coast and spent 5 days in a surf camp. Coincidentally, the camp was only occupied by women and the two “permanent guests” who were currently there were both from Germany. The two of them took me and the 4 Slovenians under their wing and showed us a little bit of the small town. On the next 3 days I had 1.5 hours of surfing lessons in the morning and afternoon and I have to say that I once again found a sport that I think is pretty cool. It is also quite strenuous, especially at the beginning, as the students have to run against the white water (the already broken waves) and keep trying to catch the waves correctly and quickly enough.
The pictures you see here are from another German acquaintance of the surf school who came by in the last hour and took photos of me because he knew that I was traveling alone. A very, very kind gesture that I really appreciate and therefore my very best wishes go out to Bremen!
My last lesson was even a private lesson because there were no other students at the time. And I caught a few waves and was very proud of myself that I was able to stand relatively stable on the board after these hours.
Otherwise not much has happened these days. The surf school organized a pizza and live music evening one evening, during which we all went around town together. I was the last one because I had a bit of a chat with the locals. Accordingly, I was exhausted in the surfing lessons on the last day. Two evenings we watched the sunset from our favorite bar and between surfing lessons I mostly read and watched the Wu-Tang Clan series on Disney Plus. In short: I had a few really chilled days in Areia Branca. The surf house also had a pool where the salt water could be rinsed out.
The sunsets were awesome!
But the beach is also impressive during the day:
I think it wasn't my last visit here and I also received an offer from the owner that I could stay in the house for Lau if I worked a little here.
All in all, just a few wonderful days in which your soul could unwind a little.
On the last day I wrote a few blog posts and set off towards Peniché relatively late because I had booked a dive there. I was quite nervous about this as it was also my first independent dive apart from my first diving experience.
But more on that in the next post.
Feel like you're being held tight,
Your Britta
