Blue Pools & Thunder Creek Waterfall

Нашр шудааст: 29.05.2024

Hello my dears,

Today I'm going to tell you a little more about my trip to the west coast. After arriving at my last stop in the dark the night before, a small cafe/campsite on one of the smaller passes over the mountains, and being very happy about the hot shower, I slept in the next morning and treated myself to a hot coffee and breakfast in the sun. Before breakfast, however, I spent half an hour cleaning because my idiotic self managed to spread my juice all over the trunk.

When I got my coffee, I had a nice chat with the owner and found out about the Blue Pools, which were on my route. I had already read on the Internet that they were unfortunately closed because the bridges were no longer accessible. But when I asked about the possibility of crossing the river, the owner said that it would not be a problem as long as it had not rained too much the day before. And so I packed my backpack for a wet adventure:
- Bikini
- Hand towel
- Water shoes
- Hiking poles for stabilization in the water

Being prepared is such a great thing! I was able to escape from everyone else in the parking lot and on the half-hour track to the pools, because apart from hiking boots, no one here had thought about crossing the river. When I got to the river, I swapped my hiking pants and boots for my water gear and off I went through the river. Of course, I tried to find the shallowest spot possible, but here too the water was almost up to my hips and I was very glad I had my stabilizing pole because there was quite a strong current there.

Such a pretty little spot of land and water - such rich colors and the blue of the water was almost turquoise. Simply wonderful! And the stone had been so beautifully polished by the water that it almost looked artificially created. And I was the only one in this wonderful spot of earth. I actually just wanted to enjoy the view and leave, but I was already half wet and I decided to take a bath in this wonderful water and went for a swim. Cold but absolutely wonderful!

The way back was a piece of cake and I really enjoyed walking in the sun with my cold skin.

After this wonderful stop, we continued west and here I made another stop at Thunder Creek Waterfall. This is a 5-minute walk from the road and was perfect for a short stop. The short stop turned into almost 45 minutes because I spent so long jumping around on the stones and admiring the marbling of the stones.

So beautiful here!

Such a wonderful day and it was far from over. I drove from this stop to Franz Josef that same day and the route is truly a feast for the eyes. I will show you some of these verses in my next post.
