Civilization without mosquitoes 🙃

We send warm greetings from Fortaleza to Germany. At 5:47 am, our plane departed from Brasilia to Fortaleza. This meant waking up at 2:45 am with heavy eyes and heading towards the airport. Fortunately, the hotel was only a 5-minute taxi ride away 🚕. After a too-sweet caramel latte and a white chocolate, we boarded the plane. We thought we had secured really good seats at the emergency exit. Unfortunately, they were probably the worst seats on the plane in front of the emergency exit and without a window seat 🙈. But after 2 1/2 hours, we at least saw Brasilia - the capital of Brazil - from the airport. Since Marie, of course, slept through the entire flight, she was in a good mood - which means: selfie time 📸. We continued to Fortaleza. This time, the interior planting of the airport was particularly noticeable. We were glad that despite the connecting flight, our suitcases arrived again. 🙃

Arriving in Fortaleza, we opted for the cheaper option and took bus 66 through Fortaleza until we were probably dropped off at the most dangerous corner of the city, standing there with our red and pink suitcases, like not being picked up. 🚌 At this point, we have to emphasize again how well-developed our road network is and how grateful we are for every German bus! 😅 With a few obstacles, we finally reached the hotel, by the way, an Intercity Hotel with a pretty good standard and finally with a balcony, two of them actually. Pictures will follow tomorrow 😉. We finally had to do what we had planned for quite some time: try McDonald's in Brazil. Put on our shoes and explored the area around the hotel (which, by the way, is not that dangerous, don't worry 😁). And even here, the sunset from a distance did its best to make us and our burgers look beautiful 🌅. Of course, everyone is now wondering if McDonald's can maintain its international standard. The Big Tasty tastes similar, but not the same. The meat is clearly different and the bread is somehow more bread-like. But we were not as disappointed as we were with Burger King. However, the dessert (a large McSundae with two mini apple pies on cinnamon-apple sauce) was so amazing that there is no photo of it. Maybe next time 🍔. The fries, however, are very different, and Marie missed about a kilo of salt 🙈🍟. We are full and strengthened!

At first glance, Fortaleza has a lot to offer, and especially the beach promenade can easily compete with Copacabana. Since today is Sunday, the streets were pretty busy, and we also need this 'sleeping in' 💤. So we spent a short time on our balcony with a little welcome drink, and now it's time to enjoy the last few days. Here are already some treats for the upcoming entries. It is soooooo hot here 😍🌡. By the way, it feels like 35°C.
