Pai & Rebekka

After 3 nights, I continued to Pai. A village in the mountains. It has long been known as a hippie and dropout village and is now also included in many people's Thailand trip itinerary.

Before my vacation, I met up with some friends to see them again after a long time and wish them beautiful days. Rebekka was one of them, she told me over coffee that she is going to Thailand for 2 and a half weeks and wants to go to the north and south. We stayed in contact over the last few days and since she really likes Pai, I decided to visit her for 2 nights.

Many people have a lot of respect for the journey to Pai. It has a lot of curves and can make you feel nauseous. It was OK for me. I had Anna from Bad Kreuznach sitting next to me. She is on a 3-month break and has combined 6 weeks in Colombia with 6 weeks in Thailand. She completed her bachelor's degree at DHBW Mannheim. Maybe we'll see each other on the walking tour. The drive from Chiang Mai to Pai cost 200 Bath and on the way we saw mostly motorcyclists who seem to love the curvy route. After a 3-hour drive, I arrived in Pai and Rebekka had already reserved a bed for me in Paitopia. She was already waiting for me there. We went to eat something right away.

Fat Cow is a very inconspicuous restaurant but has a lot to offer. We sat there for a long time and talked a lot before we went for my first massage. For 300 Bath, I got a 1-hour oil massage without a happy ending for my body, but with a happy ending for my mind. I have already planned the next one for Chiang Mai :-)

On Saturday morning, we rented a scooter for a day to explore the surroundings of Pai. There are several elephant camps, waterfalls, hot springs, a canyon, and an endless bamboo trail through the rice fields. We started with breakfast at Fat Cow. Just healthy stuff. The first stop was the hot springs. Pools with a water temperature of 35°C-40°C that don't steam because the air is 30°C. The first contact with our feet was a surprise. Ouch, it's hot!! Then we slowly made our way through small villages, jungle, and fields to the canyon. I wasn't quite motivated to walk all the way to the end because the sun was just too hot. The view was fantastic and perfect for watching the sunset. But we didn't want it to be too romantic. The last destination after the banana coffee shake was the Bamboobridge. A bit difficult to find and at the end of a fairly rocky road, there was a bamboo trail built over the rice fields. The scenery with the mountains was like a painting. The people were very, very cheerful. After Pad Thai, Khao Pad with another beautiful view, Rebekka took over the steering wheel for the return trip. It was a fantastic day and a really nice short trip to Pai. Tomorrow I will go back to Chiang Mai. Rebekka will fly on to Phuket in the evening. I will resume my yoga classes.

Greetings to everyone
