Uvita - rightly a surfer's paradise

We made a stopover in Uvita between Quepos and the onward journey to Panama. We had read or heard about the small town directly on the Pacific Ocean and since the route to the border was too far for a day anyway, we spent 2 beautiful days here.

However, there is not much to see and do here - unless you can already surf or are currently learning. Uvita is rightfully known for its beaches and especially waves. During the day, dozens of surfers gather here. Therefore, one cannot avoid picking up some of the serenity. So we enjoyed the last days in Costa Rica at a hot 30 degrees on the beach or by the pool of our accommodation. Uvita is also known for the stingray-like shape of the beach. Of course, we wanted to take a closer look at this and so we set off from the hotel on time at noon - not our best idea. In total, we were on the road for 3 hours in the sweltering heat with a few unintentional detours and short breaks until we finally arrived back at the hotel and could take a cold shower and jump into the pool! We really needed this cool-down after the accidentally escalated walk, because due to low tide we could either walk half a meter away from the water through 15 centimeters of sinking sand in the shade or walk through the blazing sun and lukewarm water.

In the evening, we set off in good time to see the breathtaking sunset on an almost empty beach and to say goodbye to 2 weeks in Costa Rica. In conclusion, we can say that Costa Rica impresses with its animal and plant life. Here we have seen sloths, hummingbirds, poisonous snakes, as well as free-living monkeys and macaws, which have left a lasting impression on us and which we will certainly talk about often. However, we also have to say that Costa Rica was much more expensive, somewhat more criminal, and more cumbersome to travel than Mexico. However, if you still feel like an adventure in the midst of unique fauna and flora, Costa Rica is the place for you!
