Unfortunately, our planned free walking tour in the Barranco district yesterday did not happen. We waited for about 20 minutes with an American couple, but the guide did not show up. Farina had booked it on her phone, which we did not have with us. But the couple did not receive any message either. When we returned to the hotel, he sent an offended message to Farina. It didn't go well, we feel innocent, as we were at the right place at the specified time.
Today, we just went with the flow. We took a walk to a small arts and crafts market. Here, a woman complained about the lack of tourism. We were almost the only ones there. After that, we visited a small bistro right on top of the cliff, overlooking the many surfers and the roaring sea. We spent the afternoon by the hotel pool.
Tomorrow morning around 6:00, Farina will go to the airport and I will wait at the hotel until the afternoon before heading to the airport as well.
It has been an eventful and wonderful time. I probably wouldn't have been as adventurous if I were alone. Thank you, Farina, for your efforts with the organizational matters. It has been a very intense and I believe, unique time that I will fondly remember.
Colombia, vibrant, loud, and full of joy. The beautiful hike in the cloud forest of Salento with the gigantic wax palms. Feeling the vibe in Medellin's Comuna 13. The 4-day hike to the lost city of Ciudad Peridad and of course, the visit to the Amazon. All of these were magnificent experiences in Colombia that I am very grateful for.
Another highlight without a doubt were the Galapagos Islands. We didn't even have them on our radar. It was a spontaneous decision and absolutely right. Sometimes, I thought someone should pinch me so that I could feel that all of this is real. It is a dreamlike and unique paradise.
Lastly, I want to thank you, Burki. It is your boundless understanding and tolerance that made this trip possible. Thank you so much.
I also want to thank you, Aischa, for taking care of Grandma and Burki.
