Chris wanted to surprise me with a nice weekend in Czech Republic, planned were great hikes and delicious food.
As I said it was planned, but it turned out very differently.
On Friday we packed our things and started around noon - Ceska Chaluppa was entered in the navigation. After a 3-hour drive, which felt like eternity when you live in Dresden and usually only need three-quarters of an hour to get to the border, we finally arrived at the entered destination. The only stupid thing was that it was the wrong Ceska Chaluppa and we had to drive back for 45 minutes.
And as if fate wanted to play a trick on us, it turned out that there was a mistake in the booking and the room that Chris had booked was already taken. For us that meant going back to Dresden. At least we got some good food from the 5-hour trip through Czech Republic :).
But the plan was to go hiking this weekend and we didn't want to be deterred from that. So on Sunday we set off for Saxon Switzerland again and spent a night in a hotel. On Sunday we managed to visit the castle in Königstein.
After a successful start to the day, on Monday we climbed up to the Bastei and then to the Lilienstein. (Pictures will follow)
As a conclusion for the weekend, we both agree that it was more than worth it, even though not everything went as planned.
P.S. The view from Lilienstein is highly recommended, even though the ascent is not for the faint-hearted :)
