Day 1: 7.30 am 14 degrees
It is still dark in Leon, only the bats in the trees along the river promenade wish us a good journey with their loud squeaking.
We are slowly approaching the end of the city. Everywhere you can find the scallop shell, yellow arrows or signs that show us the way. Of course, every 5 meters there are one or two pilgrims, heavily loaded with their backpacks.
Somehow, somewhere we miss the official Camino francese and walk along the highway, all alone. Relaxing.
After about 18 kilometers I can't go on and need a break. So I have a cafe con leche for myself and a cafe solo for Kay. During the short toilet break there is great confusion, something is written on the door Senora and Caballero... Luckily, a kind older gentleman at the counter helped me. In retrospect, I realize A for woman, O for man. Strengthened, we continue the last 6km. The first half passes by in a flash, but then Kay helps me and carries my backpack. My back already hurts. Ouch. I hope it gets better :)
1.30 pm. Finally arrived at the pilgrim's hostel. There are about 30 beds in one room... This will be fun, I hope nobody snores! Today we treat ourselves to pasta with tomato sauce, the best food there is... After 2 days of bread with salami! However, cooking takes some effort, as hostel kitchens are disgusting and dirty. But we are happy about our pasta. Yay
