Cuba: Cienfuegos

வெளியிடப்பட்டது: 17.07.2017

We drove back to Cienfuegos from Rancho Luna, where we spent 1.5 days. The city center with its old French-style buildings and the small Triumphal Arch was quite nice, but outside the center it looks like everywhere else in Cuba. We visited the Museo Provincial, which is considered the main attraction. It can be safely forgotten, there wasn't much to see. Then we wanted to visit the Museo Historico Naval Nacional, but it was closed due to renovation. The highlight was definitely the Museo de Locomotivas, which was described in the guidebook as a 'sad collection of locomotives'. It was actually 4 old locomotives that had seen better days a long time ago. Nevertheless, it was something different from the constant revolutionary speeches.

The next day, we took a ferry to Castillo de Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de Jagua. Another fortress that was not particularly different from the previous ones. But there was a very nice view of the Bahia de Cienfuegos.

In the evening, we walked along the Malecon to Punta Gorda, Cienfuegos' more expensive neighborhood with grand buildings and palaces. Jörg enjoyed a wonderful dinner (Paella) in the beautiful and richly decorated Palacio del Valle. For me, it was the same old chicken and rice.
