Real waves in the Atlantic

Today Cindy speaks up again. After leaving San Sebastián, we drove along the coast in northern Spain for the next few days. The drive to the campsites alone was worth the trip, faithful to the motto "the journey is the destination". I tried to take countless photos from the RV, but it doesn't even come close to capturing how it really is. To the right of us was always the Atlantic, wild and roaring against the rock formations. The water, sometimes crystal clear, sometimes turquoise, with small coves of yellow sand between the rocks. And to the left of us was the Picos de Europa National Park, the second largest mountain formation in Spain.

We spent two nights in Santander, in the Virgen del Mar bay. Our campsite was 200 meters from the Atlantic, but on a hill. On the first day, I managed to come to the beach, but not without effort for Steffi and me: with the e-scooter as close to the beach as possible, then folding it up, and Steffi pulls and carries it to the beach.. A sweaty affair.

Steffi's effort was rewarded with a refreshing dip in the sea. Elisa and Amélie also quickly disappeared into the water. I just sat in the sand (I couldn't stand in the water with the waves, it's already difficult for me on land sometimes) and enjoyed watching the girls. It was wonderful to see how happy they were: Elisa and Amélie saw really big waves for the first time and had so much fun jumping into them.

In the evenings, there were beautiful sunsets.

Our second stop was in Llanes. However, the campsite was by the water, but surrounded by mountains and the access road was very steep. You could only reach the restaurant after what felt like mountaineering. Looks fantastic, but unreachable for me.

This time I went into the water, despite the waves, because I really needed to cool off. It was very nice but exhausting and painful afterwards. But sometimes I just want to be unreasonable and enjoy life normally, without thinking about the pain the next day. Sitting around all day and watching the others have fun sometimes frustrates me and makes me be unreasonable...

Today we left one day earlier than planned (because of the hilly terrain) and are now on our way to La Coruña.
