After the night bus ride, we arrived in Valparaiso early Tuesday morning (24.7.2018) - a port city located 120 km away from Santiago. The city is known for its colorful houses spread across various hills. These can be climbed using steep cable cars or some buses if you don't want to walk uphill. From the hills, you have a wonderful view of the entire city and the Pacific Ocean. 🌊😍
Throughout the city, you can see walls full of incredible artwork, as Valparaiso is also a popular place for street artists. 🎨
In the afternoon, after visiting the museum in Pablo Neruda's house 📚 (Chilean poet and writer who received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1971), we took a city tour with the company - Tours 4 Tips (https://tours4tips.com/). This company does not charge a fixed price, instead, you go to the meeting point, take the tour (duration: about 3 hours), and if it was good and the secret tips convinced you, you can give the guide as much money as you want. Our guide was a student and this was his side job to finance his further studies. He showed us a lot and told us about the city. I would recommend this tour to anyone, no matter where you do it (Santiago, Valparaiso, Vina del Mar or San Pedro de Atacama). In a short time, you see quite a lot and also have a lively exchange with other tourists from all over the world.
On Wednesday, we traveled back to Santiago by bus, where we will board the plane to Switzerland on Friday at 23:00. ✈️
But before going home, my sister has a farewell party, as she is leaving Chile with us after half a year. 🎉
Let the photos give you an impression of this beautiful port city! 🤳🏼
