Hi guys,
To relax a little bit after our exhausting trek, we also spent the next few days in Pokhara. Besides a relaxed boat ride with beer and sandwiches, we also went on an adventurous scooter ride through the streets of Pokhara. From the viewpoint that we reached after an hour's ride, we had a perfect view of the surrounding area of the city. After a few cozy evenings together, we went back to Kathmandu on 13.02.2017.
Since we hadn't seen much there yet, we decided to visit some interesting places like the Pashupatinath Temple or the Boudhanath Stupa. To escape the stressful city life, we started a three-day trek in the outskirts of Kathmandu on 17.02.
Our trek took us from Sundarijal to Chisopani. To reach Nagarkot, we hiked through a beautiful National Park for which we had to get tickets in advance. Once we arrived in Nagarkot, we admired the magnificent view and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise on our last morning.
Since we returned on 19.02, we were able to celebrate Klara's birthday comfortably on 20.02. After breakfast, we rented scooters again to explore the surroundings a bit. After an adventurous ride through the forest trails, we were finally ready for a massage in the evening, which we all enjoyed very much. Relaxed and satisfied, we ended the day with pizza, cocktails, pool, and good Irish music.
We then drove to Lumbini on 21.02, the birthplace of Buddha. Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) founded Buddhism there. He always held his meditations under a tree, which is still decorated with colorful prayer flags to this day. Thousands of pilgrims come there every year to meditate under it as well.
Kind regards, your Egger girls
Hi guys,
To relax a little bit after our great trek, we spent some days in Pokhara. We did a boat trip with beer, music, and sandwiches and an adventurous scooter ride through the streets of Pokhara. We reached a viewpoint where we had a good view over Pokhara and the lake. After a cozy evening, we drove back to Kathmandu on 13.02.17. We didn't see a lot of Kathmandu, so we decided to do some sightseeing (Pashupatinath Temple or Boudhanath Stupa). But Kathmandu is still a busy city, and we thought about doing another trek around the city. So on 17.02.17, we hiked from Sundarijal to Chisopani. The path led through a National Park, for which we had to buy tickets in advance. On the second day, we arrived in Nagarkot and enjoyed the beautiful view. We got up really early to watch the sunrise and hiked down to Bhaktapur. From there, we took a bus to Kathmandu. We also liked this second trek.
On 20.02.17, we celebrated Klara's birthday. After a good breakfast, we rented scooters and rode on streets that were really dangerous. To relax a little bit, we decided to get a massage, which was very good. We finished the day happy and content with pizza, cocktails, pool, and Irish music.
Our last stop (21.02.2017) before we went back to India (we got the new visa) was Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. Siddhartha Gautama founded Buddhism there. He meditated under a tree which is decorated with many prayer flags. Thousands of pilgrims come every day to meditate under this tree.
Love, Luci & Klara
