After a long sleep, an even longer breakfast, and some laziness, we leave the rest area, cross the downtown of New Plymouth again, and continue driving south. Just outside the city, we stop by the supermarket with a long shopping list and stock up on some supplies. A little further, we stop so Jonna can empty another second-hand store while I wait in the car. Then we look for a 'dump station' and refill our water as usual.
During the drive, we have the summit of the snow-covered volcano Taranaki on our right the whole time, and I have to concentrate quite a bit to keep my eyes on the road and let Jonna enjoy the view.
In the afternoon, we park our van in the parking lot for the coming night. It is the most beautiful one we have had so far. We can park the bus right on the beach and from there have a view of both the sea and the summit of the volcano.
We decide to go for a relaxed walk along the beach and enjoy the cool breeze and the view of the steep coast.
We take advantage of the good weather to air out our sleeping things and sit on our camping chairs in the sun. After half an hour, the sky fills with clouds and we retreat into the cozy van.
The evening unfolds like all the others recently: cook, eat, watch a series, sleep.
