A short drive takes us along the lake towards Mount Cook and the glaciers. The goal of the two hikers: the 'Hooker Valley Track'.
The approximately 3-hour hike is not unknown, but also impressive. The path leads over three suspension bridges, always uphill, until reaching Hooker Lake. A rumble can be heard; a small glacier break. On the way down, we can still catch a glimpse of Mount Cook without a cloud cover when we look back.
A late and well-deserved lunch follows, back at the lake, with a picturesque and somewhat unreal backdrop.
The further drive is very beautiful; the landscape becomes more expansive and reminds us of trips in America.
In the evening, we enjoy the benefits of a 'real' campsite and a shower.
