OUR DAY had finally arrived. Around 10:00 am, we took a taxi towards the City Clerk New York. The taxi driver must have thought he was driving in New Delhi? The slightly different driving style... At the city hall, the planned witness (our photographer) realized that he didn't have a valid ID. No problem - we'll just find another witness! Andreas hired Johnny, a photographer and 'professional witness', as he assured us. After about an hour (slightly nervous) waiting and completing the final formalities, the moment had finally come. The question of all questions was asked in the marriage room. With a (previously rehearsed!)
the truthfully and emotionally answered. At 12:39 pm New York time, we sealed our marriage with an intimate kiss. Finally husband and wife!
Afterwards, we patiently completed the photo sessions in Central Park and at the Guggenheim Museum. Not even five minutes after finishing the photo sessions, the refreshing rain came. Talk about timing! Very happy, satisfied, and somewhat tired, we went back to the hotel to relax.
Of course, this important and beautiful day for us had to end properly. And so, we did at 'Bar Sixtyfive' in the Rockefeller Center. The constant rain couldn't change that... In the stunning Art Deco-Rockefeller Center, we had our wedding dinner on the 65th floor. Lobster and burgers so high above New York was truly special... The rain stopped and left behind a wonderful fresh air in New York. We decided to take a walk and enjoyed the relaxed journey back over Times Square. It was an exhausting but wonderful day for us, one we will never forget...
