Glorious Praslin

Imechapishwa: 30.10.2021

Here comes the first daily report from Praslin, our second holiday destination (impressions of the flight to this island by propeller plane are attached as well). We are also woken up here by bright sunshine and are looking forward to the first day of vacation on this new island.

Due to some discrepancies with our accommodation there, we spontaneously made a change and had to move again in the morning. But before that, we go snorkeling first, at a beach in the north of the island that is regularly voted into the top 10 most beautiful beaches in the world: 'Anse Lazio'.

The way there takes us past numerous small coves that, even though they are right next to the road, create a beautiful picture. In addition, there are many small fishing boats on the shore - one postcard motif after the next.

Arriving at Anse Lazio, we quickly realize that this beach deserves its place among the most beautiful beaches in the world. And indeed, for Seychellois standards, there is also a bit more going on here, but still far from overcrowded. Of course, we are once again faced with the difficult choice - which side is probably the best for snorkeling? We spontaneously decide on the 'right' side and that was a good decision. Just a few meters from the beach, the reef begins, no seaweed in sight and crystal clear water. Well, if these are not the perfect conditions...

It quickly becomes clear that we have to come back here, because not only is snorkeling great, but the entire atmosphere is also amazing.

On the way back, we quickly collect our suitcases and drive to the new accommodation at Grand Anse, where we feel at home right from the beginning. Here we live directly opposite the longest beach on the island (3km long) and have a super nice host! We chat with her for a while, also talking about Covid 19 - and we are amazed to hear that almost 80% of Seychellois are vaccinated against the virus. Germany could really take an example from that.

In the afternoon, we continue exploring the island. Praslin is even smaller than Mahe, with only 5km separating the east coast from the west coast, and no matter where you want to go, it usually doesn't take longer than 30-40 minutes. Here, too, there is a public swimming pool (with a view of the sea), which is actually not open to the public due to Covid-19. But thanks to Seychellois hospitality and spontaneity, I am allowed to swim there during the training times of a local club - Colette, the swimming coach, is a super nice lady who you can simply close to your heart. I'm pretty sure something like this would not have been possible in Germany!

Afterwards, we head towards home, but before that, we make a little stop at the beach for the sunset, and fitting to this beautiful day, it is simply fantastic. Afterwards, we cook a delicious meal at home and organize a few things for the following days before we fall tired but simply happy and satisfied into bed.
