Today is a big stage to get closer to our goal and maybe make up for what we missed yesterday.
After a mixed night (I always need some time to get used to 'the new'), I woke up at 4:45 a.m. and was blown away by the view from the roof tent.
First, we had breakfast at 6 a.m., but still comfortably. Then it was time to pack everything again and reach the first goal, Östersund. There we took a generous break with coffee and cake.
The second stage went to Vilhelmina, where we wanted to visit the Sami settlement, but since a heavy rain shower was coming down and the goal of reaching Jokkmokk was still in our heads, we decided to continue driving.
We made a stop at a beautiful lake near Blattnicksele, but quickly left because we were attacked by what felt like millions of black flies… Insanity!
We continued towards Jokkmokk… Suddenly they were there… Just walking across the road… Reindeer… One even had a bell… They walked through villages as if it were the most natural thing…
Last stop before the destination: Rest stop at the Arctic Circle. Of course, we had to take a photo there too…
We arrived at the desired campsite 'ArcticCamp Jokkmokk' around 8:30 p.m. and found a nice spot. But when we got out of the car, we realized the problem: mosquitoes! It's well known for Sweden, but it still surprised us.
Otherwise, the place is really beautiful and offers a lot for little money (including swimming pool, fishing, mini golf, sauna, etc.). The sanitary facilities were also well maintained... I recommend it!
So we showered first, made dinner, and suddenly it was already 10:30 p.m., which was not realistic for us at all because it was so bright...
