After a relaxed flight from Fort Lauderdale with Jetblue, one of the best airlines in the USA, we land at the international airport in San Jose after only a 2-hour flight. The immigration formalities are quickly done.
It's pleasantly warm in San Jose. 24 degrees and a gentle breeze is blowing.
Our home for one night is the Radisson San Jose, a slightly outdated 5-star hotel with very friendly staff and large rooms.
After a delicious dinner, we fall into bed quite exhausted.
Early in the morning, we go to Tobias Bolanos Airport. This is the airport of the airline Aerobell, which will take us to our next destination, La Fortuna, today. The flights were affordable at 85 euros per person including luggage and are therefore a good alternative to the nearly 4-hour drive from San Jose to La Fortuna.
Check-in is something completely different than at large airports. The luggage is checked in and then it's time to step on the scale, please! No chance to cheat with the weight, the 'sad' truth about the weight is revealed publicly.
Then we're off. A small Cessna is waiting for us. It's cramped in the cabin. The captain gives some brief information about the route and off we go.
In this small airplane, you have the feeling of floating. Below us, we see the incredibly green landscape of Costa Rica. Fantastic.
After only 25 minutes of flight, we land at the airfield in La Fortuna. A small bar, a runway, that's La Fortuna Airport. An $8 airport fee per person has to be paid and then we're heading to our hotel for the next few days.
The Mountain Paradise is located in the middle of the jungle, and from the terrace, you have a breathtaking view of nature and the Arenal Volcano.
Here you can relax and enjoy yourself.
We sit comfortably on our terrace and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere here.
No stress, no hurry, only the chirping of birds and the sound of rain, which has arrived on time in the evening.
Pura Vida.
