Tiger in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Since our Croatia vacation had to be canceled due to Corona, we decided to take a tour through Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in autumn along the "Hanseatic Route".

We made our first stop in the small town of Dassow, which was located in the restricted area during GDR times. Today, there are still many half-timbered and brick houses from the 18th and 19th centuries here, as well as an old brick church from the 13th century.

We took a short walk through the town, past the church, to Lütgenhof Castle.

The castle has been extensively restored and now houses a private clinic.

Dassow is also home to a small privately run animal park that primarily provides a home for tigers.

We joined a guided tour, which first went to the camels that live there.

They were bribed with some green twigs to show themselves to the guests up close. One of the free-roaming goats already knew this part of the tour and rushed over to the camels to get some fresh food as well.

We passed the lions and went to an enclosure where four tigers lived together.

In the Tigerpark, there are also some golden tigers, a crossbreed of white and "regular" tigers, of which there are only about 30 specimens in the world.

Finally, we played a game of Pit Pat. There is a course for visitors in the park.

A Stone Age village has been reconstructed there, which visitors can see.

There were also some old breeds of domestic animals to see, such as Mangalica pigs and Soay sheep.
