In the morning it was time to say goodbye to the Star Clipper and soon also to Costa Rica.
On the way to the airport we made a stopover in Tarcoles.
In the river of the same name there are numerous crocodiles, which attract many tourists.
So we were initially stuck in a traffic jam because you can watch crocodiles in the river from a bridge and that's why many drivers stop.
We had booked a crocodile watching boat tour with two Spaniards and two Canadians.
Our boat was quite large for the small group, so we could each look out on both sides and switch sides depending on where we could see something.
On the banks we saw numerous water birds wading through the sand in search of food.
Some birds could also be seen in the trees.
The pelicans had also perched high up on surprisingly thin branches.
In addition to several small crocodiles, we also saw two particularly large specimens:
First we encountered “Monica Lewinsky” who was waiting for prey next to the bank. At first she dived, but after our guide put his hand in the water and clapped, she surfaced again to see what was happening.
Shortly afterwards we also met “Captain Hook”, a 5-6 meter long male.
After the boat trip we were taken to the airport, where our flight back to Germany started in the evening. So we had to exchange sun and 30°C for cold winter weather again...
