Today we drove to the border with Panama and visited the BriBri Indians. There, a shaman showed us various plants, hunting tools, and spices, including cocoa, quinine, cinnamon, nutmeg, rubber, palm hearts ... He also showed us archery with a self-made arrow and bow, dyeing the skin with turmeric and another plant, imitating animal sounds with a leaf, and his many exotic frogs in all colors ...
Then we were allowed to help with cocoa production ... roasting, removing the shell, and grinding. We tasted this 100% cocoa on a banana, delicious but very dry. Finally, this cocoa was mixed with water and raw sugar and boiled. This cocoa drink was super delicious.
On the way back, we visited a waterfall and, in conclusion, an iguana breeding station. These will be released into the wild later.
After a final meal, we spent some time in our pool. Then the second power outage today ... and it was dark.
We will continue our journey tomorrow ....
