On Wednesday, on the advice of the manager of my accommodation, I went to Mokolodi Nature Reserve for a final game drive. I sat in the truck with a German family from Bayreuth. They had been to Africa multiple times and had also been to Namibia. So, we talked about our experiences and adventures that we had already had. We didn't see many animals and were somewhat disappointed... At least we saw kudus, impalas, giraffes, zebras, and warthogs! At the beginning, behind a fence, there was a cheetah lying in the shade. And once, behind a kudu, the tour guide said there was a 'wild beast' lying in the shade of a tree. I have no idea what a 'wild beast' is! But you could see a black shadow under the tree! ๐
The family wanted to drive to Johannesburg, South Africa on the same day and arrive before dark, but first they wanted to have a drink and maybe a light lunch. With a 5-hour drive and a border crossing, it's quite a feat. But of course, the pizza oven hadn't been preheated yet and the pizzas took forever! There was no chance of arriving in Johannesburg before dark anymore! ๐
Since I didn't have my DSLR camera with me and the daughter was able to take beautiful pictures with hers, she offered to send me some by email! Of course, I gladly accepted! ๐
Then our paths separated again, they set off for Johannesburg and I went to the Gaborone Dam Yacht Club, a large reservoir in the south of Gaborone. The 'Yacht Club' is basically just a restaurant on the shore of the lake. Apart from a small sailboat on the water and one on the land, there wasn't much to see in terms of yachts! ๐ Nevertheless, it was an idyllic spot to spend a relaxing afternoon with a cappuccino! ๐
I stayed for dinner and then headed back to the hotel! ๐
