Yesterday we left our hotel and since it was sunny, we spontaneously decided to go to Sentosa Island. You should know that we don't have a window in our room, so it's always a surprise what the weather is like :)
Sentosa is the southernmost point of Singapore and calls itself "The State of Fun" :-) and yes, there is really a lot of fun - but also a lot of money! We skipped the Universal Studios and walked directly to the beach with our snacks. Finally, we were at the sea! It felt good. We found a shady spot and enjoyed our snacks. Unfortunately, we didn't have swimwear with us, but we were able to dip our feet in the water and Nora enjoyed playing in the sand.
On the way back, we finally found a Food Republic. These are gathering places for food stalls that have been banned from the streets. The stalls of all (Asian) nations are lined up on the sides, and people from all walks of life sit together in the middle. You just sit wherever there is space. We ended up at the Thai stall again :-) Although everything else looked delicious as well and the dishes are freshly prepared everywhere. These Food Republic places can be found in several locations in the city, they are a good contrast to the otherwise very expensive Singapore.
The prices here are completely different from those in Thailand. For example, laundry service costs about €1/kg in Thailand, but about €6/kg here! But we knew that beforehand.
To end the day, we watched the light show in the Gardens by the Bay and then fell pretty tired into bed.
