..about Nelson to Westport...

Imechapishwa: 12.12.2018

On the way to the northern tip, today I pass through Nelson, a charming town with a beautiful city center. With a donut for the break, I climb the city hill, here the center of New Zealand is defined (no idea why it didn't work on the plain), unfortunately the weather is not so nice for better photos. In the park, I pass by a Kaori tree, planted in 1951, it only has a trunk diameter of 30 cm after 67 years.... truly a very slow-growing tree.

I continue driving to the landing site of the first settlers of Nelson (1840!), but then decide to change the route. This peninsula with the Abel Tasman Park is simply too big and deserves much more time for exploration, so I continue in a loop towards the south. The small road leads me in many curves to Westport, here I can sit by the Tasman Sea again and relax. At night, I try to take some pictures of this great starry sky, but with my small camera, it's not much (the Southern Cross is poorly visible in the middle).
