Today we left the camper van behind and took the bus (One Day Ticket for $5.-/person) to Downtown Victoria. After browsing through the bookstore 'Chapters', we strolled through a small market and passed by some gift shops and arrived at the 'Inner Harbour'. Many small food and merchandise stands, portrait artists, and musicians were lined up along the quay. Tourists sat on benches or strolled along the harbor. There was a lot happening on the water. Small 'Water Taxis', Zodiac boats, seaplanes, canoes, yachts, and even a large ferry were crossing paths 😳. The Parliament building with a large lawn and statues is very impressive. Everything has a very British feel! 🇬🇧😝👍
We walked the almost 1.5 km along the harbor to Fisherman's Wharf. Colorful houseboats with flowers and lots of decorations awaited us there. Numerous food stands catered to the many visitors. We stood in the long line for ice cream. When ordering one scoop, the cup is immediately filled with 3 scoops 😝! We could even walk past the houseboats. It was exciting to see what was hanging on the houses or draped around them. They must all be artists who live here and endure the horde of tourists during the day.
We then took the public bus past some old mansions back to the city to Beacon Hill Park. There were many small lakes, beautiful flower beds, tall trees, and small bridges to see here. You could hardly hear the street noise.
Afterwards, we went back to the shopping arcade, but we were pretty tired from all the walking. So we sat on the bus, went back to the campground, and popped a pizza in the oven. I think with over 18,000 steps today, we will definitely sleep well. We need to wake up early tomorrow. We have to catch the booked ferry to Vancouver!
