In a quite spontaneous action, I went to Singapore last week. Wednesday was booked, and on Friday after school it started.
Friday - Since we had an educational day, we were able to get on the bus in the afternoon/early evening. In total, there were only four of us on the bus, and it was a pleasant journey where we made good progress. Upon arriving in Singapore, we first went to the hostel, and from there to the city. We wanted to go to Arab Street to eat delicious falafel. Said and done! The food was super tasty and something different from KL, where there is unfortunately no Arab district. After that, we went to a bar to have a cocktail and then went to bed, somehow the day was quite long.
Saturday started with sleeping in. Then breakfast at the hostel, then we had to check out. Stupid action, but since we had to change rooms, we had to check out in the morning and check in again in the afternoon. Stupid, but nothing could be done about it. At least we could leave our clothes there, so that we could at least go on our way without the big backpacks. First, we went to Marina Bay or to the Gardens. A really beautiful place, everything clean and well maintained, and it looks just amazing! After walking around there for a while, we took the subway through the city and to the Botanical Gardens, especially to the Orchid Garden. It was so great! The most diverse and unusual orchid species, you can get an idea from the way too many pictures of them ;) After that, we walked around the gardens a bit and then back to the hostel. With a stopover in Little India to grab a bite to eat. The plan was actually to watch the laser show after a break and then go out to eat, but Julia received a message from friends in the hostel inviting us to dinner. So, we changed our plan ^^ So we had a great evening with Julia's friends, first had a delicious dinner and then went for drinks. When their kids had to go to bed, we moved on to the laser show. Since we couldn't find the exit of the mall right away, we unfortunately missed the first five minutes, but if they were anything like the first two minutes we saw, it wasn't a big deal. At that time, I still thought that the light show in KL is about as cool. But then it really started, with light, lasers, and music. Simply pure goosebumps! We also ended the evening with a few cocktails.
Sunday - Here too, it was time to sleep in. Then lounging around a bit, showering, packing, what you do in the morning. After that, we went to Chinatown. First, we looked around the neighborhood a bit, drank coffee, and then had lunch. Since it was already quite late, we went straight to the mall where our bus was supposed to depart. There we had a tea, and then it was already time to go back home. The bus ride was also very pleasant, and except for the hour at immigration, we made it through great, so that we could still go to bed somewhat fresh to start school on Monday ;)
I really liked Singapore! Somehow much cleaner than KL, and somehow everything is more planned here. And the gardens we visited are so beautiful! And we were also lucky with the weather! Overall, a great weekend (Thanks again to Julia for taking me along
