In the morning, we leave the national park and head towards Taupō. We make our first stop at Lake Rotoaira. Then we continue driving to the Scenic Lookout on Lake Taupo. We have our first coffee in Turangi, where we also try a New Zealand quiche. Then we continue to Taupo and take a boat ride on Lake Taupo in the afternoon. There, we admire the Ngātoroirangi Mine Bay Māori Rock Carvings. The drawing depicts Ngātoroirangi, a high priest of the Maori. The rock carvings of Mine Bay Māori were created over four years and completed by Matahi Whakataka Brightwell in 1980, they are located 14 meters above the water of Lake Taupo.
In the afternoon, we visit the harbor and downtown Taupo. We discover some street art and a golf course with holes in the lake. If you hit the red hole, you will receive 10,000 NZD (approx. 5,900 €). In the evening, we will have a burger dinner in Taupo.
