The airport in Melbourne was beyond confusing. It took several attempts and a phone call with Christoph to find my gate. When we arrived at the gate, boarding started straight away. After about 3.5 hours I was finally in Auckland. I still had to fill out my entry confirmation, but I had all my pens in my large suitcase. On the way to the checkpoint I saw someone filling out his form, so I asked him if I could borrow his pen. We got along well and decided to take the shuttle to the hostel together. Unfortunately my hostel was already full so he looked for another one nearby. When I checked in and started putting my things away, I discovered that my shampoo had leaked all over my pants. So I quickly decided to wash out a bunch of things in the shower. My roommates are all very friendly and helped me find a place where I could hang my things to dry. However, the residents change almost daily.
When I was done with everything, I met Caoimhín (the guy from the airport) to go out for dinner. After he brought me back to the hostel, my day was already over. My first night was very restless and quite sleepless.
At 7 a.m. I was already wide awake and had no chance of falling asleep again. Two of my roommates had to leave the hostel early. So I was now the only German in my room. At around 12 o'clock I made my way to the post office to send some car parts to Christchurch. After I accidentally walked past it and walked in the wrong direction for 7 minutes, I finally made it.
Because I hadn't eaten anything at the time, I got some beef noodle soup on the way back. Before I went back to the hostel, I stopped at a shop to get water and things for my dinner. Back at the hostel I now have time to write this entry.
My first impression of the city is quite unspectacular, but I have to admit that I haven't seen that much yet and the weather is very rainy at the moment.
