We drove along the Alaska Highway with little traffic and saw from afar on the left side of the road 2 black spots, which turned out to be younger black bears. We were able to stop just in time and took 2 safety pictures with our phones. Usually, bears slowly flee into the forest when vehicles approach.
These two black bears, probably brothers, about 3 years old, remained unbothered. First, they continued to graze leisurely, then approached each other, circled around, and started to wrestle and play. This went back and forth for a while until the physically weaker bear lost interest and slowly ran away. Before that, they seemed to have reconciled.
I was able to take the DSLR camera, even swapped the lens after a few pictures, and calmly photographed the scene from the camper. Later, I then got out - which one should actually not do - and took more pictures from a closer position, a total of 187. Of those, I selected 20 pictures and uploaded them here.
Since we don't know who else visits the blog besides you, I have taken the precaution of adding copyright protection to the images.
