🇩🇪
Welcome back to our blog. Today is the 18th of October, and in a week we’ll already be back home. Time flies by so fast.
You guys probably already know that we are allowed to go to our own classes this week. Which means we are walking around school alone or in small groups. In only two days, I had already gotten lost twice. Gratefully everybody is super nice and helpful.
My day started at 7:30am with “Theater arts and performance“ at school. In this class the students learn about different acting techniques and how to use them on stage. Here theater is a class and not just an AG. That is very impressive.
In the second block, the Germans and the German class met up to go to the Grant Wood elementary school. At the elementary school, we taught simple german words to 5th graders. The children were so nice and did really well.
In the third block, all German exchange students at Wash had PE together with an American class. We thought we were just heading to class like always, but then two students had a big fight that got out of control and a teacher had to go between them. That was kinda scary, but no one was harmed.
After that little incident, we played classic American games, like dodgeball. We also played volleyball and soccer. Then, we ate lunch and had another 20 minutes of PE. We had a big culture shock because some students just did sports in jeans and crocks.
After PE I waited for my exchange student and called my Family at home. It was so nice to hear from them.
After fourth block we drove home and watched Friends for an hour.
In the late afternoon, we drove to my host grandma’s house and ate dinner there.
In the evening at 7pm we went to a Volleyball game where Washington‘s team played against Jefferson High School’s team. It was a nerve wrecking match, and Washington’s team did great but Jefferson still won.
It was an adventurous day; I hope you enjoyed the little snippets.
