Luang Prabang

Imechapishwa: 01.12.2017

I arrived in Luang Prabang in northern Laos in early November. The old town, located between the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, offers several temples and charming corners and is a hotspot for tourists.

Same same but different...always beautiful!

My paradise near Luang Prabang. I spent several days there and mostly had the place to myself.

It looks different at the famous Kuang Si Waterfall:

After five days, I left Luang Prabang and planned to do a loop in the north. But when I looked a second too long at the mountains, I veered off the road and fell at about 50 km/h. I thought I could see right through my knee to the bone. Luckily, the first car stopped after a short time and helped me with a pressure bandage, called a friend who picked me and the motorcycle up, and took us back to the hospital in Luang Prabang.
There, the knee was cleaned and stitched, and another deep wound on the elbow was bandaged.
In the last three weeks, I mostly rested, elevated my leg, and went to the hospital every two days to clean and bandage the wounds. But I still managed to have meals with friends at my favorite restaurant Nisha :)

And if I don't feel like going out, I make fresh spring rolls at the hostel.
Andrea is also traveling in Laos at the moment, and we met up in Luang Prabang for the last few days. It was nice to see him again after five weeks, and it probably won't be the last time.
I stayed at the Sabai Sabai Hostel during the four weeks here in Luang Prabang, as well as the next few days.
Today, I finally rode a longer distance with the motorcycle again and spent my 'anniversary' with Julia, whom I met at the hostel, at my favorite spot and in the evening at my favorite restaurant :)

So that's it for now from me. Now that I've been traveling for exactly one year, I felt the need to let you (family and friends) be a part of it. Sending you hugs and see you sometime :)

ps: I will stay in Laos for the next three weeks, and when I feel fit again, the road trip continues :)
