Rain, rain, rain ☔️
What did Brigitta's grandmother always ask?: "What does the weather command us today?" My answer is to stay at home!! Of course, Brigitta could say, "But I always stay at home with my ass. After all, he lives with me 🤣🤣🤣. But because she's such a sweetheart, she naturally doesn't do that 🥰.
We're so glad that we booked and planned our boat trip and all the other outdoor activities yesterday. None of that would be possible today. It's been raining and storming all day long here. And only completely crazy people go outside in this weather. By the way, did I mention that Brigitta took a walk on the "Wild Pacific Trail" at noon ??? 😉
Well, this morning hunger drove us out anyway and we went to "The Blue Room" to have a "small breakfast" there. I think we could have fed 3-4 additional people with it. The blueberry pancakes alone were as big as a whole breakfast plate 😱. It tasted really good and we got a free view of the bay, even if it was rainy.
After a little detour to the lighthouse, where we not only got wet but also almost flew away, we went back to the suite, where we immediately lit our fireplace and, as I mentioned before, Brigitta went for a walk while the househusband took care of the laundry 💪🏻 and kept an eye on the score of FCK : HSV. 2:0 , Top Deluxe!
Once Brigitta was back, she did what she loves to do on vacation when the weather is bad and uncomfortable. She went for what she called a magnificent massage 😊.
Since today was a rather quiet day, I can tell you something about the country and the people and our experiences with them. So first of all.... the people here are very relaxed, very helpful and incredibly friendly. Besides, they are mostly in a good mood. Even for me, a hardened misanthrope, it's hard not to like Canadians 😉. But, they drive their huge SUVs so considerately here that it almost annoys me. I can hardly ever get mad at or even insult other road users here 🤬. That's hard for me to bear....🤣🤣. By the way, driving a car here may feel more like "car standing" for us Germans. And with the distances you have to cover here, every trip feels like an eternity.
Speaking of distance.... Vancouver Island is larger than Belgium in terms of area. And the province of British Columbia, one of Canada's 10 provinces and 3 territories, where we are right now, is three times the size of Germany and that with only about 1/17 of the population. That means there's plenty of room for magnificent landscapes and nature that can hardly be imagined any more beautiful.
We ended this bad weather day with a meal at the "Big Beach Lounge" in the hotel, including live music (actually, we wanted to buy something for dinner, but the only supermarket within a 40 km radius was closed due to inventory 🤦♂️), and now we're having a cold drink in front of the fireplace in our living room, looking out over the raging Pacific 🌊.
