We heard about the island of Ly Son from Ede, who had heard about it from two independent tourists. They talked about paradise, beautiful and secluded beaches. We wanted to see it for ourselves. The journey was not as easy as our other trips because the island is not well known. To summarize our journey: taxi - train - taxi - bus - speedboat - 2.5 km walk for free - taxi 😅 🚕🚂🛥🚶♀️🚶♂️ But everything went smoothly - well, except for the walk 🥵
During the train ride, we had another great encounter with a Vietnamese lady. At first, she and all the other passengers in the compartment looked at us a bit skeptically. After a while, the train refreshment came and the lady bought whatever she liked: cut sugarcane and a type of sesame-nut bar. Suddenly, she smiled at us and joyfully offered us some sugarcane and later a bar. We had to watch how to eat the sugarcane. You basically extract the liquid and spit out the dry stalk - it tasted good 😃 She also asked many other passengers if they wanted some - it was anything but common 🤩
And then we were finally on Ly Son 🏝 Our expectations were initially not met. There was a wall at the beach, a lot of traffic on the road, and many people at the harbor offering business cards for hotels and taxis. It was very stressful, which may have been the reason for our "escape" and the unnecessary 2.5 km walk. But it was also because we had only looked for accommodation shortly before and were looking for the wrong address 😅😅😅
The island finally forced us to use a scooter - we experienced it for the first time 🛵
