Guatapé

Our next destination: Guatape. From Medellin we travel about 2 hours by bus to our holiday home, a finca with a beautiful view of Lake Embalse del Peñol, an outdoor kitchen and very comfortable seating. We enjoy the peace and quiet!

In the evening we start a cooking session. We want to have a barbecue. Unfortunately, this turns out to be more difficult than expected. The charcoal doesn't want to glow properly. Even lighting it on the gas stove doesn't really do much good. We also notice that the aluminum foil we bought is probably iron-on bags :P In any case, it burns when we put the charcoal on it. So the grilling is done for today. We make oven vegetables instead - also delicious :)

Lissi is seized by ambition. She really wants to get a campfire going. She makes it and we can caramelize marshmallows over the fire - so delicious! Plaice eats 10 of them at once :D

Nina turns out to be an excellent cocktail mixer and treats us to delicious Moscow Mules - even with a sugar rim!

We finally have a pet: Sascha comes to visit us and wants some cuddles. Woe betide you if you stop scratching him, then you're immediately nudged and asked to carry on :D

The next day we take an Uber to Peñol - a striking granite inselberg. We trudge up the 650 steps and enjoy the beautiful view. After an expensive beer, we venture down strengthened. We take the tuktuk into town, stroll around a bit and have dinner. We enjoy the last evening in our finca, play Uno and regret a little that we didn't book several more nights in this wonderful accommodation.
