Stage 10 Guemes to Santander

The day starts with a good breakfast at a long table with new friends.

Then it's time to head to Santander.

The stage turns out to be a fantastic, flat coastal path. I can hardly keep my finger off the shutter button until I reach the beach of Somo. Although I set off this morning as one of the first, I think everyone has overtaken me by now. I don't care, I soak up the atmosphere and press the shutter button again....., I love digital cameras with large memory cards.

Along the way, I saw a sign by the roadside that the 50-year-olds with their children are quite fast.

From Somo, I take the ferry to Santander. During the ride, I already enjoy the amazing skyline of the city. When I arrive, I reward myself with a Cortado and a toast with tomatoes, mmmmmhhhh delicious.

Afterwards, I look for accommodation, which shouldn't be a problem in the big city. And indeed, I find another great accommodation in the 'Santander Central Hostel', right in the city center.

Well, now I'll take a shower and then go to the beach.......------- when I step out the door, it's raining. Change of plans, city walk instead of chilling on the beach. Tom and Rado, whom I made plans to meet 'on the beach', have continued their journey, as I find out when I try to arrange dinner with them via WhatsApp. So it's going to be a quiet evening tonight.

To my surprise, my phone rings and it's Jan calling. He's taking a walk along the Rhine with Lara so that Fiorella and Sophie can bake in peace. We have a good conversation, Lara is sleeping.

After the call, the young woman at the reception helps me. She calls the hostel where I will be staying tomorrow and reserves a room for me .......it's going well.
