We're not really in the flow yet. Sleeping too long, breakfasting too long and only getting started in the afternoon. You could say: "It's vacation time, time to relax", but somehow we always have this underlying feeling that we're missing out on something. Stupid, right?

We're still completely blown away by our helicopter flight. Today we want to drive to the north.

But before that, we have to replace the Frisbee disc that we lost yesterday. Arriving at Uncle D's store, we are faced with a closed door "closed" Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday closed and today is ... of course Monday. This trip was pointless. Oh well, can't change it, so let's head north.

We follow the highway along the coast to the Kilauea lighthouse. A short hike will do us good.

Facts

The Kilauea Lighthouse is the northernmost point of the island. The lighthouse was built in 1913 with the world's largest hand-blown shell lens. Later, it was replaced by a beacon in the 1970s.

Well, unfortunately we can't hike here until Wednesday. Monday is closed. The only good thing is, we saved $20.

So let's continue on the highway to Princeville, the place of the rich, beautiful, and golfers. There's also a frisbee court here that we want to try out.

Princeville is a planned settlement on Hanalei Bay on the north coast of Kauai.

and is predominantly used for tourist purposes.

Tourism development began in 1971 with the opening of the Makai Golf Club. In the 1980s, a large resort was built with an 18-hole golf course, airport, and shopping center.

Before the tourist development, agriculture and livestock farming were practiced here.

The golf course from back then has now been replaced by a new one and we're playing frisbee golf on the old golf course.

Short grass and long distances. The sand holes (called bunkers in technical jargon) have now been taken over by the grass, but are still recognizable as such.

I could also imagine having a little house here, but unfortunately we're too beautiful for this place.

Technically, the course is not challenging, most holes run without obstacles to the basket. After 9 of 18 baskets, we're taking a break for now (maybe we'll finish the baskets another day). You walk like crazy here without a golf cart (by the way, no one here pushes their golf bag by hand), and we forgot our water in the car, and we still want to go to Hanalei Bay.

It looked great from the air, and even better from down here. A dreamlike backdrop. Fine sandy beach, beautiful waves, warm water, what more could you ask for.
