La Rochelle - our new love

This morning we set our alarm for 8:00 am to explore La Rochelle in peace. Even though we saw a lot during our city tour yesterday, what greeted us this morning in the fog was a dream !!!

If the sun had been shining, it would have been an immediate reason for us to stay here and never want to go anywhere else again.

More beautiful than Barcelona and Paris combined..... At least according to US ;-)

Beautiful alleys, picturesque houses, amazing facades, cute shops, a very nice small harbor, many small street cafes

And to top it all off, there was also a market.

Fruits, vegetables, cheese, fish, bread.... In an incredible variety.

Only Buster had enough of civilization. So we went back to our motorhome around noon, enjoyed our souvenirs and planned our route to Chinon.

But planning doesn't necessarily mean staying on the route. Fortunately, this happens to us on every tour, because one of us always sees something great somewhere and suddenly we're not following the plan anymore. But sometimes we see such fantastic things.

For example, the many castles along the Loire.

In Chinon, we found a very nice campsite on the riverbank, so we and especially Buster could finally get a little wet in today's 41°C !!!!! However, refreshment looks different.... It feels more like taking a bath.

Happy with our peaceful spot, our mood darkened a bit when, in the evening, 11 not-so-sober Frenchmen set up camp opposite us for a weekend bachelor party and we were immediately 'forced' to write on the groom's body with a marker.

You can imagine what kind of night we have ahead of us....
